I'm bringing home a baby bumblebee...

Won't my Mommy...be so proud of me. :-) My kids are really into this song right now, so I thought it might be fun to make some accessories for while we sing it. And yeah I know we could just do the hand motions, which are pretty much the same as what I made, but then I wouldn't have had an excuse to use my CRICUT!!

I was originally gonna use magnets to stick everything together, and it would have worked, except the lamination was a lot thicker than my magnets could hold. So...Velcro. It works great anyway.

Um,... yeah those are actually tire tread marks from the Camp Out Cartridge, it was the best I could do for smeared bumblebee. :-)

I LOVE Cardboard Crafts

Ethan got this road set for Easter. It was kind of a test run making it out of cardboard because my original idea was to make it on plastic canvas and have all kinds of accessories. I figured I should make sure my kid was gonna even play with something like that before spending HOURS stitching it up!



I originally made 16 tiles out of lightweight cardboard, but one got severely warped during the sealing (mod-podge) stage so we ended up with a set of 15.

They are all reversible so there are a TON of ways to combine them into new road maps!



I made this little parking lot for a future store to go next to. On the reverse of the parking lot pieces are straight and corner pieces so you don't have to use them if you don't want.



Yes, I realize that there are not all 15 in these pictures...did you notice? Well we have lost a few, since it was Easter he got these, and one didn't look too nice in pictures...all bent up cuz the kids step on them *cringe*. Oh well, they are just kids. And what's the point of making toys if you can't stand to watch them get loved -(ruined)! Lol!

And the credits: A huge Thanks to my dad for making the road patterns on AutoCad, because I am definitely not smart enough to figure out how to make each road line up on every side with perfectly rounded corners and even space in between!! :-)

P.S. A few that we designed wouldn't work for this small scale, so there were more kinds of tiles in the original plans.

Diaper Cake and Carriage

I helped throw a baby shower for my friend Carolyn, well actually all I did was make the invitations and some decorations for the shower. But it turned out really cute, this was my first diaper cake, and I wanted it to be kinda elegant, so I didn't put toys or baby stuff on it.





I really loved the look of the tiers on the cake, usually I have just seen the layers stacked on top of each other, but I think it looks more like a real "cake" this way.


The baby shower colors were black and white and pink, so that is why there are some black flowers mixed in there, plus I love the bling on them!!



The Diaper Carriages I first saw were ones that my husband's aunt made for her daughter's baby shower, and they were soooo cute I had to copy!! Then I looked online, and there are a lot of them out there! Plus I found a way cute site where a lady is making all kinds of 3-D diaper creations, like a motorcycle and trike! Anyways, hope you like these. I am sooo bad about taking pictures although I do bring my camera with me EVERYWHERE, I just forget to get it out. So if I can borrow some other people's pictures of the baby shower, I will post some of the other stuff I made.

Quilts for Kids- Sponsored by Downy

I made this quilt from a kit that was sent right to my door by an organization called Quilts for Kids. They are a wonderful group of people that make handmade quilts and deliver them to children who have been hospitalized for various reasons from illnesses and disease to injuries and broken bones.


The kit they sent (which you can request online) came with all the fabric you need most of it already cut. They supply you with a quilting pattern for which the fabric was cut to size and a Downy label to name your quilt and sign your name.



There are a few requirements when you make it, like it must be machine quilted within every 2 inches or so. I had a lot of fun with that part, designing the pattern for the quilting lines.



I especially like how the diagonal lines look in the outer borders.



In my opinion, the backing fabric they gave me was cuter than the front and I like the way it turned out best.




I named it Rails 'N Tails- which was my mom's suggestion.



I'm just glad that my quilt will go to a child in need of comfort, and hopefully bring a smile to their face. :-)

Cupcake Flower Bouquet

Well, since so many people responded to my apple cupcakes, I thought I would share some pictures of the flower cupcake bouquets I made for Mother's Day and my friend's birthday.


The petals are made out of sticks of gum that I cut and shaped, and the centers are tic tacs.

I'm not blogging again...

If I say I'm not, maybe... well we'll see.

Here is what I've been up to, for anyone who cares, or still bothers to check.



I used my Cricut to cut out the apple on the lid, and used page protectors to make the plastic window.

I made the apple cupcakes for Teacher Gifts, and gave them to EmmaLee's preschool teachers and bus driver and attendant.

I printed up some Thank You Cards on my computer and on the back there is a place to write a personal note to the teachers.

I figured out how to make the cupcake box based off a photo I saw somewhere online of a folding gift box.


Doesn't that look so delicious! As an apple...and even more so as a CUPCAKE!


What's really ironic is that I made these on the last day of the school year, and my last post was around the first day of school! Yeah, I know I suck at blogging. :-)

Why do I even have a blog?

So...the point of this blogging thing is to share what's going on in our life with our family and friends, but what's the point of blogging if it takes up the actual time you should be spending with your family? We have just been really busy lately, there is so much going on that I have grossly neglected my blog. I appologize and will try to get on track...starting with some pictures of EmmaLee getting on the bus on the first day back to school (again.)

This is her third year in Preschool at the Elementary in the Special Education Program. Her birthday is coming up in November so she'll be 5 for the majority of the school year. I'm glad that she will have this extra time to catch up before kindergarten although she will be one of the oldest in her class throughout school. I was always the absolute youngest one in my class. My mom pushed me ahead to 1st grade after my 3 years in preschool and I skipped the whole kindergarten fun. I was the last one to turn 16 and go on dates, and last to drive or get my permit. Blah Blah Blah... anyways, here's the pics.
