Coffin Box Invitations

I volunteered to make some invitations for a Halloween party my friend is throwing and really wanted to make these coffin boxes for it. People keep asking me how I expect to make any money if I just keep giving everything away... Oh well, I really wanted to do it! I actually had this idea about 2 years ago when I was going to help a friend throw a party, but that didn't work out so I never got around to making them.  Then of course, Martha Stewart comes out with some similar kits to buy...  and Oriental Trading has some too...   Well  I think mine are cuter than theirs!!  :-)

These are the invitation inserts that went in each coffin.

I used the Happy Hauntings Cricut Cartridge to cut out the boxes and lids.

I printed out the Invitations from my computer. I used 'A Charming Font Super Expanded' for the back of the invite and the front is a stamp.

I originally wanted to just line the coffins with white satin (and batting to make it puffy) but once I ran out of green candy melts I started using white almond bark and that wouldn't show up on white satin, so I ended up putting some black lace over it. I actually like it better that way!

To make the Skeletons I melted and poured the almond bark into candy molds I bought at Michaels. The green Skeletons are made with candy melts. I don't think they taste very good so I prefer to use the almond bark, which I think tastes pretty good.

These are for a Halloween Party so I made 17 of them. Why the odd number? That's all the paper I could manage to find in my stash.

I think they look so cute with the lids up!! It's like a graveyard! Or a funeral or something...

I tied them up with strips of black lace and tied on little tags that say "Rest in Pieces".

Sorry for sooooo many pictures!! I have a hard time settling on just a few, so I post them ALL!!

What a cute little helper!!

Hooray for Naked Day!

Today was Naked Day at our house...

Although I did joke that I was getting kinda cold, it was actually only Ethan who ran around Naked all day. When my husband called during the day and commented that I sounded unusually happy, I told him it was Naked Day- which means we all run around naked... and of course he told me to take lots of pictures... Dirty Man! :-)

Well, we have been trying to POTTY TRAIN Ethan For...um....EVER! On Monday my friend Carolyn suggested that we try a Naked Day, and it TOTALLY WORKED!! Sweet Success! All day we only had 1 accident. Which is amazing for Ethan considering all the days we have tried "Potty Training In A Day" which basically means he wears only underwear all day and I sit him on the seat like every 30 minutes. On those days we have Nothing BUT accidents. In fact on those days he usually doesn't even use the potty ONCE, just the couch, floor, kitchen chairs... you got it.

Well today there was ONE accident, the first one, and then... NO MORE!!!! Can you tell how excited I am about this?? I did hit a point during all this that was too funny not to giggle out loud about when he started running into the bathroom to go, Seriously, every 45 seconds after finishing the hand-washing, putting a sticker on the chart routine. Think maybe he just really wanted those stickers?? Which, mind you, he only got if there was some actual byproducts in the potty. Wow, now I'm getting a little too detailed I think.

Well, I did as my husband instructed and took a few pictures... don't worry I tried to clean them up as much as I could...

Although I will say this, even though he's only 3 there were several occasions that my daughter and I felt kinda awkward... I mean it's a BOY... running around NAKED. Eeeeewwwww!! :-)

Like Father, like son

On the left is a picture of my husband Tyson when he was about 2-3 years old. It's so cute how identical his baby pictures look to my son Ethan!!

And the right is Ethan now. Well not exactly now, because we just got his shaggy hair cut yesterday and I have to say that I hate it! The lady did not do a very good job. We tried spiking it though and that didn't look too bad. I will be having my hair stylist and bff, Carolyn, fix it when we get home!!

Catching Up...

What you've missed...

For Halloween EmmaLee was Princess Belle and Ethan was her Knight. She demanded that we call her Princess EmmaLee Belle for weeks afterward! Oh, and I was a scarecrow.

I absolutely love the wig on her. I was kinda hoping that she would too, since she will never have a full head of hair. I've always been open to the idea that she might want one someday, I thought maybe even as early as 5 or 6 years old. Nope, she did NOT like it, just too itchy.

And... EmmaLee turned 4. She wasn't very happy on her birthday, not even blowing out the candles. But obviously she liked the frosting. There WERE stars around the whole border of the cake, until she ran her fingers through it. I actually sat there and secretly watched her do it, I think every kid is allowed at least that on their birthday! lol! What made her finally smile? ELMO pajamas!!!!

My Layouts

Okay, so these are really old pictures in the layouts but I've never scrapped them on anything. And...I actually made everything for the layouts myself!! Pat. Pat. Yes, I'm patting myself on the back.

And yes, I realize that these still need some journaling or explanation...at the very least, a date.
