Going Digital. I think I'm getting the hang of it!

I am really loving this digital scrapbooking stuff! But I still havn't decided if I am ever going to actually print out any of these layouts. Not sure how much it will end up costing if I only put one or two pictures per layout.

This layout was done with a free downloaded kit from the coolest website: shabbyprincess.com. You can get lots of free downloads here: http://www.shabbyprincess.com/downloads.asp

p.s. Photo is of my younger sister and my daughter at the Alaska State Fair in the petting zoo.

2 Sketches 4 You

This is my first time doing a Sketch Challenge, so tell me what you think please... but I'm afraid I missed the cutoff and won't be included in the challenge. Oh well, there's always next time.

Notebooks

I taught my Activity Day Girls how to make these notebooks for our activity this week. I bought the ruled notepads at Wal-Mart. I love back-to- school season... everything is on sale! I paid $2.17 for a 5 pack of these 8x5 notebooks.

I made the covers out of that extra lightweight cardboard we have instead of throwing it out. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. I'm all about it now.

My First Digital Pages

This was my first digital scrapbook page, but really its a hybrid because I made the page first, took a picture of it, then edited it with the journaling and pictures in digital scrapbook software. I don't think it really counts as a digital page.

This page really was my "first" digi page. I used Adobe, which I don't know ANYTHING about and mixed a couple free kits that I downloaded from the internet.

Got some awesome downloads from this site http://freedigitalscrapbooking.com/clubmembersonly.html
Still not sure if it's better digitally or not...certainly faster.

Let me know what you think!?

Pretty Boxes

I have suddenly become obsessed with making these adorable tiny boxes! I have made like 9 of them in a week! Well, I actually made 6 in one night as a handout for the cute girls in my Activity Days Group (church group) after we visited the Anchorage Recycling Center. (sadly i forgot to take pictures of those ones!)

And now you ask..."What do those boxes have to do with recycling?"

Well I made them from the cardboard boxes that your bulk snacks come in. Such as granola bars, fruit snacks and oatmeal packets that come from Sams Club or Costco. It isn't like actual corrugated cardboard, it's more like chipboard, and it's not as flimsy as cereal box material.

This one's my fav! I love the huge pearl heart button!

I have to give proper credit, I learned how to make these from here:http://sbl.tvweekly.com/player.php?9c9b63491b3831d25c89c7c55f50d188x443

Blogger Links

So, I really hope that no one minds that I have added all of their blogs to my list of fav's. I swear that I am addicted to blog surfing, I honestly visit all of those blogs almost every day to see what's new. These are such talented women and I love seeing the amazing creations that they come up with. Just wish that I could come up with stuff like that! So check them out!

*random thought: Maybe if I dedicated as much time to my crafts and scrapbooking, as I do to Blog Surfing I would have a lot more to show you here!

Pre-Made Scrapbooks

These are my newest layouts. I made them for a pre-made scrapbook that I sold to a friend.

Some Validation Please....

I know that it's not just me thinking this....although I might be the only one saying it out loud. Why is motherhood sooooooo hard?? I thought this motherly instinct thing was supposed to be hardwired right into our brains! Well, I know at least that it is definately embedded into our hormones and emotions, otherwise I wouldn't burst into tears of frustration at a moments notice.

Today it was as simple as my daughter crying because she didn't want to take her bath. This is a neccessary procedure for her, and yes sometimes painful for her. It breaks my heart for her to hurt, but is it wrong that I also get so frustrated that she is screaming at ME. I don't want to hurt her, does she think I do??

When a child is "naughty" and needs discipline, whether it be a time-out or priviledge taken away, or dare I say "swat on the bum" , it seems natural that they will feel some hatred toward you. But when the hatred is the result of an act of love and service to her, I can't handle it.

I admire so many mothers out there that have the patience and understanding to deal with children with special needs, because as hard as I try...I know I fall short of what she needs.

Okay so this is not a "pity me" post, but I just had to tell someone, and seeing as how this keyboard I type on is VERY understanding, I feel much better now.

One thing to clarify, (in case my post is ever actually read) is that I DO know I offer my daughter the most LOVE and compassion that is humanly possible. I know that she never doubts how much I love her. And I LOVE and CHERISH those rare moments when I can feel her troubled spirit being comforted by my presence and embraces. *Tear rolling down my cheek* Good Night.
